Honestly, I cannot speak for “customers”, only for myself.
I have no idea what the actual term for those bits of paper are, but I call them a complete waste!
Perfume mixes with the chemistry of your body, and does not smell the same on anyone (unless you spray it only on your clothes). One perfume can smell fabulous on someone, and completely horrendous on someone else!
I always – ALWAYS – insist on trying perfume out on my wrist or in the inside of my elbow. I can then evaluate how it smells on ME, how it “dries down” and how it smells AFTER it’s been on for 20 minutes or more.
You can’t truly decide how a perfume smells on YOU if it’s sprayed on a bit of paper; besides, the chemicals used to process the paper would also affect the scent.
Sniff the nozzle of the bottle, if you like it – spray it on you, and if you don’t… “next, please!”
I have no idea and I don’t think I want to know
I don’t know what the papers are called, maybe sample testers or something. They help the customers test differeft kinds of perfumes etc, before buying. So they can be sure what smells perfect. Also I think it’s best if you keep the papers for a day or two & then buy the perfume. Cause that tells you how long the perfume lasts, etc.
